Ultra-Efficient Products, Invader Mark III

Ultralight Aircraft Magazine - The Mark III invader was originally designed by Nick Leighty and Rick Berstling in 1982, as a part 103 legal ultralight aircraft. It uses a welded aluminum tube construction in the fuselage, mated to a double sleeved aluminum irrigation pipe extending out to the the V tail. The wings are constructed from wood using foam ribs covered in standard aircraft covering materials.

Early model Mark III Ivaders for two axis control, with all of the controls working off of the control stick, in later models rudder pedals were added. The aircraft is a pusher, in a mid-wing configuration, with a tricycle gear, and a steerable nose wheel.

The Mark III invader can be powered by engines ranging from 14 to 36 hp. These include the 14 hp single cylinder yeah my engine on up through the Rotax 377 and 447.

Problems were reported with separation of the ribs from the main spar.
